The annual St. Louis Regional Kokondo Seminar was held the weekend of August 26th and 27th. Our special guest instructor this year was Master Joaquin Betancourt from Connecticut. This year’s event included several members from out-of-state dojos, two of which left with rank promotions. In addition, two of the St. Louis dojo earned their promotion to First Degree Black Belt.
The primary theme of the weekend was bunkai (practical application) of techniques that appear in several of our kata. Our participants received amazing new material, refinement of technique and an extra helping of sore muscles.
The seminar was followed by a group meal at a local establishment. Great discussion, tales of other seminars and just plain fun was shared by all.
Plans are already in the works for next year’s St. Louis event as well as our attendance again at this year’s Palm Coast, Florida seminar in December.
